What does Perineal Foam Do?
Perineal foam is a leave-on product for women who have recently given birth. It is intended to soothe the skin around the vaginal opening and anus.
By applying foam to a pad, it places the product where the pad meets your skin. (Rather than relying on a liquid spray alone). After a vaginal birth, swelling, stitches and tears can make this area uncomfortable. Additionally, haemorrhoids may add soreness nearby.
Peri Soothe is intended to provide you with comfort during that recovery period. It does not replace cleaning, prescribed treatment or a wound check.
Ginger, Rosemary and Witch Hazel
Peri Soothe combines three botanical ingredients. All of which may help to reduce swelling and inflammation and reduce skin balance. They are ginger, rosemary and witch hazel.
Ginger is associated with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity, while rosemary is associated with antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. Witch hazel has astringent properties, which are commonly used in soothing skincare.
The foam may provide comfort for postpartum sensitive skin. However, it does not treat infection, repair tears or speed healing.
Australian Made
Peri Soothe Foam was developed by a midwife, specifically with postpartum mums in mind. Its ginger, rosemary and witch hazel blend gives you an Australian-made option for your recovery routine. It comes in a pump format that is easy to apply.
How to Use It
You can apply the foam each time you go to the toilet. However, before using it, wash your hands. Then follow the packaging directions to apply a few pumps directly to the external perineal area or onto a fresh pad. Once applied, you can leave the foam in place, so you don't need to rinse.
Using It With a Peri Bottle
Use your postpartum peri bottle first to rinse the external area with plain warm water. Then gently pat it dry with clean, soft toilet paper or a towel. Once you have done that, apply the foam. Try to keep the bottle nozzle from touching your skin.
150ml, Sized for Your Hospital Bag
The 150ml bottle fits easily in your hospital bag alongside pads and spare underwear. We recommend keeping it somewhere accessible for toilet trips at home, too. How long it lasts largely depends on how many pumps you use and how often you apply it.
Pairs Well With
Why not build your after-birth supplies around what you expect to use?
For instance, you can browse the postpartum recovery packs for bundled options, or pair the foam with disposable postpartum underwear. Apply it to a fresh pad or underwear surface as directed, and keep changing your pads regularly.
